| Dropped B is an alternate tuning for a guitar. It is similar to Dropped D and Dropped C tuning, but it is lowered from the former by three semitones and lowered from the latter by one semitone (or half step). The result is B-F#-B-E-G#-C#. This tuning is very popular with alternative metal/post-grunge bands. It has also become popular with doom metal/post-metal bands. Heavier gauge strings are required for this tuning, which may also require widening the string grooves in the nut of the guitar as well as re-adjusting the tension in the neck. |
