Lesson 16: Drop Bb tuning

Drop B♭ tuning is a guitar tuning that is one half step down from B tuning. B♭ Standard, form of this tuning has been utilized for many years by popular death metal band In Flames, however the dropped version of this tuning has been utilized by other different hard rock and metal bands in recent years.

B♭, said as "B-flat", is the step in between B tuning and A tuning, an even lower tuning that was pioneered by hard rock band Korn in the 1990's.

This tuning can be achieved on a six-string guitar by dropping the strings, from low to high, B♭-F-B♭-E♭-G-C (or A#-F-A#-D#-G-C). This is one half step down from Drop B Tuning.

This tuning can be utilized in another version, known as B♭ Standard tuning, in which the strings are tuned B♭-E♭-A♭-D♭-G♭-B. This is the tuning that is used by In Flames.
