The Cleveland Orchestra and the Cleveland Clinic, world leaders in music and medicine, will convene a symposium called “Music and the Brain” to examine new understandings about the vast impact of music on the human brain. The symposium will be held on August 16 in Mozarteum University of Salzburg (see photo), Austria. It will be part of the Salzburg Festival, an annual five-week-long music and drama festival. It is the first program of its kind to be held during the Salzburg Festival. Audiences will be exposed to a variety of interrelated topics including: • Where in the brain does creativity live? The symposium will feature an internationally renowned group of experts and dignitaries from Europe and North American representing the fields of music, neuroscience, health and wellness, psychology, and philosophy.
