Maravanne The maravanne, or kayamb, is a flat percussion instrument used in the Mascarene Islands to play sega and maloya music.
Maravanne is made of reed (or sugar cane flower stems) and is filled with jequirity (Crab's Eye) or canna seeds, it is shaken horizontally with both hands.
